While this winter has been another mild one in Norway, the snow pack is significantly greater than last year and the river has already risen up to around 180 m³ at Gaulfossen in recent days. While we may still get quite a bit of rain in the coming month, with less snow melt, the water level should drop nicely towards the end of May! This means it also looks like the river will be in good shape for an early start meaning we should expect average water levels for the opening weeks, and if nothing unexpected happens – we can expect to see salmon running throughout the whole river system by 1st of June!
